Biography
Andrew Hunt is a curator and writer. Between 2008 and 2013 he was director of Focal Point Gallery (FPG), Southend-on-Sea, where he produced an internationally recognised exhibition programme. His time at FPG culminated in the organisation’s move into an ambitious new gallery, a capital project funded by Arts Council England that contains permanent commissions by artists including Mike Nelson and Allen Ruppersberg. He was previously curator at International Project Space, Birmingham (2005–8) and assistant curator at Norwich Gallery (2003–5). Over the last ten years, Hunt has organised numerous exhibitions and projects, including solo shows by Elizabeth Price, Eddie Peake, Dawn Mellor, Kitty Kraus, Marc Camille Chaimowicz, Kai Althoff, Anja Kirschner and David Panos, Anna Parkina, Tris Vonna-Michell, Sue and Terry Atkinson, Steven Claydon, and John Russell, as well as offsite projects by artists including Scott King, Mark Titchner, Morag Keil and Keith Farquhar. In 2012 he was a member of the Turner Prize jury. His writing has appeared in magazines and journals such as Art Monthly, Domus, DotDotDot, Frieze, Mousse Magazine, TATE ETC. and Untitled.
