A me terra

(...)The work is an installation of 5 videos on the theme of work and feelings of people in Sicily based on historical and anthropological research. They are about a long-gone period: the immediate post-war years, when the island was "the place that symbolized" the southern Italy's underdevelopment, rendered by the artist through the filter of art. Sicily's history is generated by its own constituent elements grown out from the intertwining of different cultures and civilizations that after settling in the land gave origin to its cultural background.
In this work a strong involvement with the land definitely appears and stories are related to migratory identities, a matter still relevant now that Sicily, with the arrival of illegal immigrants, finds out the existence of another South living in worse conditions. (...)
