These paintings are part of Città di Castello’s (Pg) Municipal picture gallery. I have inserted my self-portrait inside the paintings to analyze the connection between the Ancient and Contemporary times. The history of art is a part of italian DNA. The beauty of ancient times is a precious good and a value for our country. My work is a message to the contemporary artist. As a young kid trying on her mother’s shoes I am comparing myself to the works of our magnificent past inserting my self-portraits into ancient pictures. Are we overwhelmed or inspired by the power of artistic past? Or, aren’t we ignoring it?
