Verlernen

Verlernen (‘unlearning’) is a German word often used as forgetting.
By deconstructing it, the word refers to a process of learning to forget, an attempt to delete existing knowledge. Influenced by that process I am searching for buildings in London that have been delisted from the English Heritage Archive, where The act of deletion is archived alongside what is to be remembered. The photographs, as an archival tool for documentation, present the search for the disappearance of a thing. They trace the influence of the traumatic event on the surroundings. Succeeding and failing to find a place from the list is just as important.
