Ritratti di Città
My research for faces, lives and biographies continues beyond my photographic click, letting me collecting other people’s photographs, anonymous, unknown people.
The photographs I use are mostly private photographs, very small and without artistic intentions.
The journey of this work starts more or less two years ago in Berlin, then moved to Trento, Bologna, Paris, making these small collages of faces, hands, bodies, my portraits of the cities.
My eye is the red thread, the thread that sews things together, suggests relationships, creates a drama or simply gives visual rhythm.
With the photocollage, I give a new meaning to the cut-people I use, giving them tha status of Characters.
The people that we see are real people, they existed in the reality, but they no longer have a real role, they are not any more, they have become ghosts.
These people really existed and now they live again as Characters, entering a system of representation that belongs to the present time.
