Set in a gated community in Yelahanka on the suburban outskirts of Bengaluru, this series of nine prints and a video animation features a black mass or void that moves very slowly through the built environment. Through the sequence, this ambiguous shape begins to develop character, presence, and meaning. The work offers a response to Henri Lefebvre’s assertion that “we are surrounded by emptiness, but it is an emptiness filled with signs”.
