At birth, in an area of the urban kernel, a tree is planted. My tree.
It's a very peculiar tree: it has my same name, and we are united in a life that's just beginning.
I and my tree (myself) will grow together.
Our union, our being the same thing, takes place in both the physical world of leaves and trees, and in the digital one of information.
A technological system keeps me in contact with my tree.
While we grow, I can load images, videos, texts and links, which will show my life as it flows.
A simple device (only a few euros worth) is planted next to my tree, and every once in a while it takes pictures of it, which can be related to mine.
We can see ourselves grow together: my first baby-bath, next to a young stem with just a few leaves; my first day of school, next to a young tree which starts showing its branches; and onward, up until my white-haired picture, next to a majestic tree.
I can associate my social network profiles to my tree. Everything which I write in public in these locations of my digital life will be automatically collected, describing our life, as it evolves through time.
And, thus, wonderful groves start forming in the city.
They are made of trees, and of people.
I can go there, in those groves, and look at the trees, mine and the ones of other people.
I can look at them using my eyes, but also electronic devices, such as a smartphone.
If I look at them in this other wat, the trees become magic, and show "their" person.
Looking at the grove in this way, it animates and each trunk, every leaf, pairs with plays of light which show images, videos and texts: the life of "their" person.
The grove becomes the place of the stories of the people of the city, as they grow.
Every once in a while I go to "my" grove, to meet my tree. The "me" made of wood and leaves, as it grows.
In the grove there is another magical place, a sort of oracle.
You can sit around it, and look.
In the mirror at the center of the oracle, you can see the map of the city, animating with the things that its dwellers are saying in this very moment, in their digital lives.
You can see the general chit-chat, typical of the network. Or, by touching on a side of the mirror, you can choose themes and times, to see how people speak about ecology, traffic, health, emotions.
I can see the oracle from home, as well, using the Internet.
But, when I can, I prefer going there, to my tree (where I am) and relax, listening to the city.
