Aureola Series
In Aureola Series, the very solid and abstract materials, steel and light, are being employed in the work that allows me to further explore the relationship between artistic expression and the presence as well as absence of the body. By using steel and light as the metaphor of physical elements and spiritual experience, I attempt to investigate the duality of the body.
In making the steel wearable sculptures, I also took reference to the history of tortures and punishment. This is associated with the concept of the constrained body, which on the other hand echoes with Merleau-Ponty's idea that creation is an act of freedom.
