Like Art, food is a universal language. In my homeland Malaysia, food is important, it’s the core of our collective identity, despite a variety of religions and ethnicities. For Malaysians, food is a religion; we even use it to make offerings to our gods and the spirits of our ancestors. In my Burger series, I have explored the way that the introduction of fast-food to my beloved Malaysia has hybridized, seduced, mutated and deconstructed its culture.
