Painted elephant
I made this special table for the exhibition at the workshop Z in May 2011
At each of my shows between 2000 and 2008 I realized the small-format paintings with the theme animals. In this context, I made a series of painted elephants, a dozen or so.
It was presented in 2003 at the Galerie La Hune Brenner A4, I just wanted to do it again in much larger (120x80 cm) in 2010 on the occasion of an exhibition presented at the Show Édudard Rambau room.
I collected as a child, the elephants, I had over 150 in all shapes and sizes. This animal fascinated me and still fascinates me by its size and its many curves.
It goes back too far before my first exhibition. May be reminiscent of cartoon where the characters are often filled with paint stains
