The "Madonna del Parto", part of a larger project about the Madonna’s iconography matched to the 7 energy centers of the human body, is connected to the the chakra "Swadhisthana" of the pelvic area.
This work intends to mix classical and contemporary elements: Mary sat down on her throne between two pillars, the white and black of the Temple of Knowledge, and, like ancient icons, she’s represented on a larger scale than the two women beside her that open up a white curtain; these figures, like those in the background, are blurred because they have a different "velocity" from the Lady, who is, however, motionless in her being eternal. The contemporaneity of the scene is revealed by the characters' clothes, bathing suits and bathrobes, and by the presence of a pool in the background, which also refers to the key element of chakra Swadhisthana, the water. On the top of the throne, a votive depicting a belly remembers the part of the body represented in the work.
