Disturb Utopia

‘Disturbed Utopia’ is an experimental short film that examines and exploits the traditional camera techniques and forms of manipulation used within the film industry to seduce the audience. The film is an exploration of the nature of the camera’s lens (or rather gaze) and its inherent voyeuristic presence.

The slow and seductive movement of the camera echoes the traditional Hollywood tracking sequences used to sedate the audience and draw them into the moment depicted on the screen without realising their voyeuristic presence. This entices the audience to move with the camera (from a respectable wide shot to an intense close up) and thus enter this seemingly private moment.
