German Tourist Poster #4 (Prora)
German Tourist Poster #4 (Prora) is a painted pseudo advertisement addressing history from two perspectives, the British and the German. The image depicts a vast holiday camp built in the 1930s on the Baltic island of Rugen. Having been derelict for years, a section of it has recently been converted into a youth hostel. By turning it into a tourist attraction, it explores Germany's recent willingness to come to terms with it's Past. As the poster is written in English though (and aimed at a British audience), it highlights the still prevalent British obsession with the Second World War evident in the countless documentaries shown on British television channels.
