Nature Morte - Peony

The Nature Morte series revisits the traditional genre of still life in a contemporary context using digital tools (the scanner) to re-explore the passage of time and the ephemeral of life.
 Materials such as food and flowers are moved while the scanner works. 
This gestural play between the Material and the Machine generates an image that connects the Tradition of art and the Current practice of art. The image shows gestures from the past, it reveals something that didn’t exist as a physical object. It is a practice that is an extension to the tradition of camera-less photography and photograms.
