Tyndareos

Tyndareos

Tyndareos was the Spartan king married to Leda, whom Zeus visited in the form of a swan and raped. This re-imagining of the scene borows directly from a painting by Francois Boucher, combining this mythological vignette with a portrait of a contemporary figure (the model for Tyndareos) taken on a mobile phone. The figure's arms also refer to an art-historical source, underlying the deliberate and pointed artifice of the composition.
