PENTIMENTO, 2011
Exploring contemporary grammar of assertiveness, my works deals with langage tricks, artifice and sensitive devices used or invented by anonymous people. While tattoos and body art are highly fashionable in our contemporary societies, I focus on a more discreet phenomenon : tattoo removal.
Focusing on capturing these life’s accidents, these sparklings playing hide and seek between two pieces of clothing, the photographs try to reveal signs which are little by little vanishing.
I took these photographs at the tattooed women and men’ homes, and no retouches were made directly on the images, just color balance. In the age of Photoshop and digital technology these pictures are retouched from the inside, simply thanks to laser dermatology.
These pictures were made with a medium format camera equipped with a digital back and a flash gun.
Name : Pentimento, series of 11 (eleven) color photographs.
Date : 2011.
