CHIRURGIES, 2005

A series of 16 colour photographs
In this series of 16 portraits of surgically altered anonymous people, I deliberately ignore the scars and other “before/after” clichés. In these pictures, all that matters is in the frame, which traps the onlooker’s glance. I’m talking about surgery, yet one sees nothing.
Manuel d’esthétique, Filigranes Editions 2005
« Helped by two plastic surgeons who opened their consulting rooms for him to set up his studio, Christophe Beauregard photographs portraits of surgically altered anonymous people. Although now in peace, these people have begun a slow and subtle process of blurring identities and genders. These portraits show this new accepted and desired ego. »
