Chrysalis

Chrysalis

Chrysalis is the life stage of some insects undergoing transformation.
In this project human figues and bodies appear from the dark in a transforming state. Is our nature that is continuously changing and mutating until the process of growing is complete.

The photographs are taken in extreme low light conditions which makes it uncertain if the subject in the photograph is actually going to be impressed on the film and how.

This margin of uncertantiy goes back to the idea that we are only in control of a small deal of things in our lives and sometimes it is what we cannot control that leads us to our unexpected future.

The equipment used is an analogic Nikon reflex camera and film stretched to its limit (ie. Ilford 3200 used at 6400 or Fuji Neopan 400 used at 1600 or 3200). This makes the photographs to have a very high granularity which adds texture to the works.
