I work from a combination of glimpsed images, memories, and color harmonies. I sometimes use previous paintings as a starting point, overpainting and revealing selective passages that in turn suggest a new structure. Images submerge and re emerge, physically in paint and in our dissolving experiences. In my paintings small passages of brilliant colour contrast with expanses of chalky, neutral tones; textured or worn away areas interrupt smooth planes or raw canvas. I see unpredicatability of surface textures and ambiguous spatial situations as corresponding to a way of seeing the world as uncategorizable, nondualistic, unknowable, and full of wonder.
