Janus

Janus

Installation, Philosophy, Sacred / Mythological, Various materials, 50x70x10cm
Janus is a Roman god of beginnings and transitions, thence also of passing and time. He was usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past.

My artwork is also a work of transition, a bifrons painting which finally became an installation. Probably BIFRONS PAINTING is a new concept for the history of art, I never found it within the studies of major art experts or on the net.

But compared with former artworks having the same theme, my Janus installation is bifrons both as an iconic image and as a monochrome two-colours composition, yellow and red. Probably this artwork, inspired by Leonardo’s masterpiece, ”Lady with the Ermine”, is a new chapter in the history of my art, I never saw during my life, in art galleries, museums or art fairs, a similar idea. It was a moment of inspiration, like in my youth, when I was a poet.

My JANUS looks to the future and to the past of ART, like all my artworks belonging to the ARCHETYPAL EXPRESSIONISM series.
