Bosco-Citta'

This work explores the identity of the well-disguised, shape-shifting outsider, of placelessness. Spanning across fiber arts, costume, and performance, these videos also investigate well-entrenched myths of grotesque femininity, of the intersection between the beautiful and the unsettling. In Bosco-Citta’, the figure undergoes a metamorphosis as the landscape behind her shifts from one place to another. Like a spectral caryatid, the figure is immobile but not inert. She is not quite either figure, and not quite anywhere. Duration and the passage of time are essential to the piece. Expectations of narrative give way to the study of minute details of the setting and the almost imperceptible movements of the figure. The stillness and presence of that seemingly mythological figure is questioned, why choose to occupy a place without being of it?
