swimming the channel

The tourist waits for his moment, there is no one in sight. He slips out of his clothes and teeters on the edge of the Grand Canal. He is ready to take the plunge...BUT something has caught his eye. Could it really be what he thinks it is or is it a booby trap?
He must swim the channel now. It is his last chance.
