Inverted Shelter (Variation I)

Inverted Shelter (Variation I)

Installation, Political / Social, Various materials, 200x130x25cm
An inverted shelter, that protects human beings not within it, but outside it, alluding to something dangerous housed within. The installation makes use of an existing structure on the island of Certosa, an abandoned armory magazine. The painted sand bags fill the doors and windows of the structure, creating protection for and denying the viewer access to the building, suggesting the existence of an eminent danger within the magazine, relating to the original function of the structure.
