Dark Paradise - Ciclo: Shangri La
The idea came to James Hilton from the readings of the memories of the Jesuits who had stayed in Tibet and who had come to knowledge of the traditions related to the Kalachakra Tantra which describes a mythical kingdom of Shambhala.
In the novel by Hilton is talking about a place enclosed in the western Himalayas in which we could see beautiful scenery, and where time had almost stopped, in an environment of peace and tranquility. Shangri-La was organized as a community perfect blade, professing however, is not Buddhism but the Nestorian Christianity. Were banned from the community, not by law but to common belief, a whole range of human weaknesses (hatred, envy, greed, hubris, greed, anger, adultery, flattery, and so on), making it a paradise in which material and spiritual the occupation of the inhabitants was to produce food to the extent strictly necessary to support and spend the rest of the day in the evolution of inner knowledge of science and the production of works of art.
