Conversion, Mesure et Equivalence
Of the two containers placed at his disposal , Blais has preserved one in its normal state, as a receptacle, while making the second the very material of his sculpture. He transforms the 3 tonnes of metal making up the second container into masses of roughly moulded pig iron. Some of these pig moulds will be chromed, thereby becoming
stainless, unlike normal containers, which are stored out of doors and thus exposed to the elements. Duplicating as much as he masks, Blais symbolically buries one container within another, thereby echoing the Hillman site, the completely buried fortified site on which the piece is installed.
