White Plaster

White Plaster

Painting, Portrait, Human figure, Oil, 122x152cm
As an artist, I am fascinated with the dichotomy between my Asian and American upbringing. White painted faces and the long exposed neck possess an erotic allure in the Japanese culture. My Japanese grandma often scolds me for my tanned skin because in Asian culture pale complexion represents beauty and sophistication. Underneath the white smear, I am quite content with my healthy American tan.
