Blacksmiths' associations, such as the one from Médine in Bamako, produce principally
from recycled metals, all kinds of useful objects in everyday life: pots,
buckets, pulleys, nuts...
Scrap metal, the sledgehammer beating on an anvil, noise, fire. Iron melts here in
furnaces dug in the ground.
The fire is maintained by a fan driven by a wheel that is spun endlessly.
The molten steel is then poured into moulds.
All metals are recycled.
The wrecked cars and trucks are dismantled and reduced into parts of
metal to be melted down and to be reborn under the hammer blows of the blacksmiths.
