In Mali, Blacksmiths are part of a caste. It is claimed that when they hammer the anvil, the sound they make is the voice of the spirit of the waters.
Their role is eminent in the malian society, they act as mediators to restore the agreement in case of conflict.
Despite the precarious working conditions, noise and an oppressive heat,
they are of great courage and dignity that commands respect.
