WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

Painting, Memory, Abstract informal, Acrylic, 152x152x5cm
This artwork is a childhood recollection of my family summer holidays, visiting my grandmother. The yellow depicts the brightness of the summer sun and the light blue represents the calm of our time up north. The connection to nature’s beauty is symbolized by the patches of green. The coral pink represents the colour of my grandmother’s apartment hallway where my sister and I would play, while the darker pinks express her warm and loving nature. The solid black bars symbolize the many roads travelled and the white patches are the purity and innocence of childhood. The loose black fluid lines convey a sense of delight and excitement.
