The title is 'Noughts and Crosses', it is a visual comment about the London Bombings of 2005. A friend has been looking after the painting whilst I moved to live and work in Rome 5 years ago but I now need to find a more permanent home for the work. The image is a mix between the representational and the abstract. It's comment is critical, but of the point in history - where political reactions and solutions are out-moded (simple like the game of noughts and crosses) for a world that is trying to make steps towards globalization. As with all great social and political changes in history the path is never smooth (8 years on we now hear 'infrequent voices' in the media/politics which put forward that the 'one fit, fits all' is out-moded and learning how to work with people with wholly different cultures, political and economic needs on a global scale requires new diplomatic skills and understanding to protect our own and the people of other nations.
