New York
Clutter and congestion in an urban landscape without dignity, without dignity, without a soul. Sebastian Magnano has not painted the place par excellence of our time, the aberrant tangle of a polis that is no more. The pictorial image is the target pad of a society in crisis in which the values have been trampled, destroyed, crushed ... in exchange for nothing. Gray colors, tones, dirty, greasy backgrounds, "dirty" the canvas as if to underline the empty abyss in which the new humanity has been swallowed. Magnano is not pleased, but he also defeated in this unequal struggle between beauty and decay, between harmony and rape. Concrete and scrap iron in place of the heart of the earth, chaos and violence in exchange for respect and solidarity. It is not just a painting, but a warning, an invitation to think.
