Natura Morta con Zucca e Violetta Africana

Still life with Pumpkin and African Violet is an oil painting which features various elements beyond the two mentioned in the title. They include a ceramic bird vase, a copper pot, in which the plant sits, and various pieces of cloth behind which a landscape scene is visible. The objects in the foreground were painted from life, but the background objects are the product of imagination, and are inspired by the trees of early renaissance painters. It is worth mentioning that this painting underwent a revision a couple of months after its "completion." The tan cloth in the foreground that originally extended to the right rear of the objects was removed, in favor of more landscape development.
