Amicizia
“I am a 27-year-old woman from Turin who has always had a great passion for photography. I call myself an “old school” photographer.” About 15 years ago, through experimentations with analogic Reflex machines and subsequently with hasselblad and with the optical bench, I started my studies on movement photography, studying shutter speed and double exposure… thus Art_Missy was born. In the last 9 years my pseudonym has involuntarily been connected to spiritic photography and this has become my unmistakable style. It is difficult to trace back to the moment my passion for photography started, to tell the truth I do not remember a single moment of my life without the camera in my hands. I can testify that my first pictures date back to when I was only 2 and a half years old. Everything started from a simple game which soon became downright love. I like to create my works seizing the moments in everyday life, in which I always include something nobody would normally expect to see. I get ispiration from what I see looking around, or from what I see looking into myself or in my dreams..obviously my pictures reflect my belief that there is something after death where the soul continues to exist. My project is dedicated to whom is not alive anymore, but mostly to whom knows that their soul will never die...
The spirits of the dead in my pictures seem to be trapped in an intermediate state between the material world and the afterworld, waiting for something (or maybe someone?)that would enable them to pass over. None of them shows anger or hatred towards the living. The souls are represented in connection to a location, an object, or a person that had been important for them in earthly life. Personally, I do not want to stir up hidden fears regarding death, but to make people think about life, afterlife and about the importance of the memories of our loved ones.
