Artemis, with reddish hair, sitting on top of a waterfall and simple in appearance, smiles mysteriously and so intriguing to her favorite lover and nymph Callisto, who approaches her with respect but full of desire. There are nymphs in the background and a bear to the left of the pond, symbol of the Goddess. The robe of the Goddess is yellow, as was the robe of her priestesses in the ancient greek worship. The myth says that Callisto was impregnated by Zeus, that in order to possess it deceived assuming the appearance of Artemis. In fact this is a "macho" version of the myth, the result of an already convoluted and Aryan polytheism. Originally, Artemis was really androgynous and possessed both sexes, and made pregnant Callisto, in an embrace perhaps weird for us, but not for the ancient Mediterranean.
