"High wind, moderate gale, near gale. Sea heaps up. Some foam from breaking waves is blown into streaks along wind direction. Moderate amounts of airborne spray. 7 is how the BEAUFORT SCALE, devised by Sir Francis Beaufort in 1805, rates the stormy weather conditions observed from my studio in February 2014.
