VAULT OVER
'In Vault Over the artist becomes the interpreter of a mental and metaphorical path that connects the city of Venice to the city of Xi'an.
Cristina Gori uses herself , the most distinguished element of her body: her hair , especially long , to create a match between the two cultures ( Western and Eastern ) , and identify herself with one of the most recognized and representative symbols of China's history : the Terracotta Army . They are in fact just the very warriors hairstyles to distinguish the belonging to the ranks ( archers, soldiers, generals, emperor ) in the ancient Chinese Army of the Emperor Qin Shihuang .
Through a series of self-portraits Cristina Gori transforms herself into a hybridization between the Venetian and the Chinese identity , creating a personal vision of the Silk Road through the juxtaposition and layering of the two cultures and their histories . Covered by a layer of clay , the artist transfigures and merges in the history.’ Carolina Lio
