Back and Forth 2007-2013
Back and Forth - part 1
The Back and Forth project stems from a series of self-portraits shot between the autumn of 2007 and 2012. They are intimate, personal portraits, but at the same time, they are intended to tell the universal story of a couple's relationship, of the identification of a woman, of changes, of pregnancy and the arrival of a child - moments that many can identify with.
Back and forth, like the steps in the dance of life. They are sometimes small journeys, movements around oneself, journeys people take in search of nourishment and attempts to escape from one’s reality.
It tells the story of a move from the countryside to the city, and then again with the arrival of a child, back to the countryside, where the fields are transformed and become once again places in which to go and play. Looking through the windows is no longer a reflection of the inner microcosm; it is rather wonder and gazing upon the world.
Ideally, the selection of photographs comes before the video installation (part II), as if it were an introduction to the change.
