Myself

Myself

“Myself” Project investigates myself in my deepest, and it is not represented by a photo of myself, neither made professionally, nor of a kind posted on social networks, therefore in absolute contrast with the social-attitude of nowadays to appear by posting “private” photos of himself, that, just shot, immediately become public in order to be shared. According to who live on “social-acceptance”, the self-confidence doesn’t arise from the acquaintance they have of themselves, of their features and their limits, but from being acknowledged by their network “friends” like “cool” for the way they show themselves, for whatever thing they do, and for being considered trend setters for whatever opinion they express.
Here follows the statement for each photo of this project, in their correct and sequential order.
1) MY FIRST PHOTO: This is the first photo of my photography books, started when my first camera was gifted to me, an almost 14-year-old-girl, and it was shot during my first hang-out with some Year 8 former classmates for a McDonald’s lunch. It represents for me the image that testify the beginning of my passion for photography: from that time on, I carried my camera with me every time I could! (September 1988)
2) PLAY DOUGH STARS: This photo represents my first art work, when the passion for contemporary art came into me, at this time like a divertissment. Then I started to take it seriously, and I tried to be an Artist. (http://www.energizzarte.com) (1998).
3) BAR EXAMINATION: The photo of this document represents the certificate of the end of Law studies that led me to become an attorney, profession I have been practiced for eight years. These, for me, were very hard studies – my body was giving some warnings, through psychosomatic diseases, that I wasn’t able to catch – not only for disorders suspicion as per image n. 8, but mainly because they weren’t appropriate to my hyperactive nature, to my attention deficit, to my real attitudes like creativity – suffocated by studies – and to my polyhedral and multitasking essence (January 30, 2002).
4) THE MONOCLE: My artistic path goes further towards photography which I carry on also with travels, another strong passion of mine. This photo was shot in the Algerian M’Zab region, in a type of community where women can show in public just one eye, and represents a unique encounter , very intimate, secret and fleeting, I had with one of these women (2004-2005).
5) A MODERN REPRESENTATION OF NATIVITY: In September 2010, after, in the meantime, got married, relocated from Rome to Modena and given birth to 2 children, I decided to make a change: I went from the legal career to the one of Entrepeneur in the Fashion industry, by taking over the majority shares of Monsieur Cucu’ brand, specialized in baby and children’s wear (but also woman’s). I took care of its concept, image, design, style, along its expansion. At that point this choice came from my firm belief that in this environment I could have better express my creativity and my polyhedricity. This image represents a modern version of the Nativity, with lots of little red Monsieur Cucu’ elfs that form the shape of the typical flower, Christmas’ icon (2012)
6) A BATH WITH BARNEY BEAR: This photo of my sons has been shot during a Sunday afternoon while they were playing in a creative and funny way with diving masks and lots of foam, and taking a bath, together with their guest, the “bagged Barney Bear”. It represents , in this project, my photo-blog (http://monsieurcucu.blogspot.it ) and my lifestyle that I carry on with it: Arts, Photography, Design, Travel, Creativity where children – dressed up mainly with outfits I design – are taken and included into the grown up creative and dynamic world, which they will metabolize at their own, absorbing their respective incentive (February 2013).
7) KEN ROBINSON, TED TALK, 2006: I have been definitely struck by this public speaking: it makes me understand very much my path and gave answers to questions to which I wasn’t able to find a solution yet. It should be listened by all the people who work in the Education field, by all the people who legislate in this field, as well as everyone is going to become a parent. I approve and support every single word of it.
8) DISORDERS “FAMILIAR” TO ME: Each of us makes a certain path. I am starting to understand mine by looking into my past, into the reason of many choices, and by looking back, as a mother with my children, on some difficulties suffered when I was young.
9) SCHOOL-SMILES “GRADES” IN A CREATIVE WAY: This is a collage of the photo of the best drawings my son did in his school exercise book (Primary, Year 2): he used to turn the Smiles his Italian teacher gave to him - equivalent to a good grade - into a very imaginary drawing.
10) MATTIA'S SELF-PORTRAIT: This photo represent the self-portrait of my son Mattia hung up, along with the others, at the entrance of his classroom (in a very strict school!). “Why the sing of the horns?” I asked to him; “Because I am a mischievous kid, that’s why!”, he answered to me. OMG, he is so ironic and creative at 7-year-old??!!
