'The Prayer'

This drawing is the first of a series of three 'Prayers'.The central image, (in oil pastels) is surronded / encircled by a repeated prayer written in ink :-

'I lay down my solitary life on the sacred moors'.

-(this is my own composition - and reflects my love of the northern uplands in which I live).

The style / theme is influenced by religious illustrated manusc<x>ripts and by the rich colours found in 15th century italian landscapes.

The process of completing this picture was itself a meditation / a prayer imagined over many hours, days and weeks.
