Inner Us
The project consists of a video art that intends to be a self-portrait, establishing a relationship with certain characteristics of its authors. The video was produced with video and photographic cameras.
The concept of the first part video is to convey the "obscure" secret and imaginative side of the author, connecting him to his superhero. The goal is to recreate a kind of picture with some characteristics pointed out by other people who know him best. Thus is born the superhero named SecretBoy.
At the beginning of the video, one can see a hand slowly opening the door of a dark room with several computers and an image warning of danger that symbolizes an entry into the deep and dark universe, changing from reality into a parallel universe. The character moves on and opens another door at the sound of a "robotic "voice that says:" Find the emission source and destroy it!" The door makes an eerie noise which causes some suspense... The lamp turns on accompanied by some effects and sounds as if it was opening up a gap of light in that dark parallel universe. Then, right in front of a table one feels the rhythm of psychedelic lights depicting creativity at various points, when it is high or when it just becomes repetitive.
The second part of the executed video art has the goal to represent the super hero Invisible woman, personality and author interests. With this video, it will be shown the authors’ personality and similarities with the super hero. Mystery will be mainly appeared in the song which has calm and sudden parts that cause suspense and coincides with the initial photos that are shown with speed and sudden black shots and they take a few seconds to last followed by the song. The main goal is invisibility where it represents the main character encumbered with a white cover, covering the whole body, showing physical invisibility but aside from that showing a strong personality and personal interest.
The third part was created to illustrate a part of the authors’ life and how he is inside. This video tries to convey the image of a person who has reached a new and completely unknown place, who had difficulty in adapting and suffered with it for a long time and repeatedly, until he reached a point where he had enough of it and responded. By doing so, he changed as if he had turned into someone else, hiding his "good" side behind a mask and not letting anyone else take advantage of him. Hiding his weak side from everybody enabled him to fight and try to find his spot in the new place.
Bearing in mind how the author is inside, the intention was to convey that sometimes he changes, so that people do not abuse of him. When he has to put up with things he doesn’t like and loses patience, he also tends to be a bit aggressive.
Being hit by water balloons symbolizes the suffering the individual went through; the egg represents even more pain and it is the trigger to make him rebel and change; using a mask means concealing the true identity as if it you had changed, thus being already someone else; the wooden handle is a symbol of strength, a weapon to help you move on and defeat everything ahead, building your own destiny, refusing to accept "maltreatment".
This part is based on a superhero who was chosen by members of the directors’ family. He was given this superhero simply because there were similarities between them.
In the video there was an attempt to use objects, ideas and tastes which could establish a connection between the author of the video and his superhero, therefore creating a self-portrait as well.
The love for outdoor activities, namely riding a bicycle, has influenced the choice of using a bike in the video and give the idea that the superhero had never tried it before, conveying the feeling that he doesn`t feel comfortable with it, as he has no clue of what it is used for. There are breaks in the video, such as small bits in which the superhero is being punched, as if this was a way of waking him up and make new ideas come up.
The fifth part of the video starts with the face of a girl with piercings. Seeing the girl, the audience, will have a different idea of how she is. The girl looks away and sees a person kicking a ball repeatedly. Feeling observed, stop kicking the ball and see who is watching her. The plan changes and shows the girl in the beginning of the video, the plane departs and the girl who is sitting is the same as before kicking the ball.
This video intends to convey that we see people in a way but these may prove to be different.
One of the goals, of this specific part of the video, is to create a connection between the author and the imaginary Superhero, in this case Peace Woman.
The concept is based on the instability which is conveyed by sound oscillations and on the dynamism which is reflected through the accelerations and the different expressions. The main message is the famous quote “Peace and Love” which establishes a link with the Superhero mentioned before.
This project intends to be universal, thus the use of sign language, and its goal is to arouse sensations in the audience while raising awareness.
This is a self-portrait to show the way the author, of this seventh part of the video, sees the world.
The video shows with animation a nostalgic and a fantasy side that never grows up (static timer), also shows a way of changing the world and not giving up when obstacles shows up. The wolf represents fast and an individualistic characteristic (lone wolf) and the eagle represents freedom of as well as moving or thinking. The backgrounds are an artistic part and the colored words a ton of emotions.
Overall, the video shows a different point of view, a fantasy one, of any situation that we confront without giving up.
This part of the video lasts about one minute and is based on suspense. The video sound was recorded on computer thanks to the program “logic pro” (mac) and with the help of a bass. It was inserted a modulation effect in this music track to make it sound like an echo or a closed sound in a room. The waves were the images which resulted from touching the strings of the instrument (bass). With these images I tried to say that music can be reflected in society in several ways, for example, as a protest, conveying calmness or a nightmare. In my case it was used to create some suspense.
From the earlier work of the authors "super hero" with this part of the project, he wants to convey with the abstract art the way of thinking of "artist", and with this kind of art, wants to test what's going on in the head of the artist.
With white between the three colors will reveal the interior space of the subject where knowledge, according to these colors and their meanings manifest themselves as the feelings of the human being in one line or a conversation in a single line, such as the use of white sheet associates itself with the idea of purity that spoil with the second opinions several ways of thinking and ways to trace among other complications of human being.
With the black guy standing out as a second person, also means mystery and anger that the artist's pass without notice according to your strokes, with want artist demonstrate concern around, for appearing a second improper shown as "intervention" and manifests as want to ruin the artwork, and express their over consciousness evoked more black color being winner of its action and constantly appearing first.
But with the introduction of the dark red the author means leadership and the Red symbolizes the pride, and control which he tries to demonstrate and the violence of the forms of painting to be the correct shaping traits demonstrated the artist "fix" him this fight. With these colors the Red will demonstrate dominance by controlling the black demonstrating prides itself. Comet mixture begins to reveal various feelings of a human being.
Blue is the color of the spirit and of thought. It symbolizes loyalty, fidelity, the personality of the artist. It symbolizes the idea of also trying to self-fix your mistake and make the complete work of art, showing their spirit.
The beginning, of the tenth part, shows immediately the concept of the video that follows. The whistle and the static noise have the purpose of annoying and disturbing the audience, so that it creates in them an unpleasant feeling, a reaction. The video has no meaning whatsoever, and that shows that the student only knows herself partially. The sudden change in the shooting and scene symbolizes the mood instability. The fact that the model has her hair in front of her face symbolizes the shyness both of the student and the super-hero. The attempt to convey fear through the video is a transmutation and reflection of the author’s feelings.
The last part of this video reflects one side of the artists personality and how sometimes people see him, a dark sinister confusing and inconsistent side. Although these are some characteristics of his personality, they work as a shield... a protective repellent shield, which tries to drive away evil and negativity nearby.
The initial distorted image represents the image and the first impression people may have from the author – a serious person with a stern expression and of few words. Throughout the video, images were captured to reveal parts of his body and the will to express himself.
The music reinforces and complements the video itself, following up the captured images, giving them strength and pace.
The video, presented in black and white, as well as the effects and filters used reflect and give emphasis to the sobriety of the artists’ personality.
