Gabriele D'Annunzio, Prince of Montenevoso, sometimes spelled d'Annunzio, as he used the signature (Pescara, March 12, 1863 - Gardone Riviera, 1 March 1938), was a writer, poet, playwright, airman, soldier, politician and journalist Italian, symbol of the Decadent Italian, of which he was the most illustrious representative with Giovanni Pascoli, and war hero.

Dubbed the poet that "the prophet", occupied a prominent place in Italian literature from 1889 to 1910 and about in political life from 1914 to 1924. As a man of letters was "exceptional and ultimate interpreter of the most enduring Italian poetic tradition and as a politician he left a mark on his era and an influence on the events that would succeed.
