BEHIND THE MIRROR

BEHIND THE MIRROR

Installation, Philosophy, Symbol / Letter, Various materials, 40x80x2cm
The installation composed of eight cut mirrors which don't reflect, creates the sensation of finding oneself in a space that cannot be defined. The levels are cancelled and the depths become uncertain, any possibility of measuring them is vain. The only thing left to do is to lapse into absolute uncertainty in a boundless space.
The mirror, magic object ready to deceive us, has to wait for Lewis Carroll in 1871 who foresees that soon the world will look beyond appearances, behind and within people and things.
My mirrors capture the concept of going beyond an obvious vision, which is predictable and surely unreal - we see what we want to see - and become an invitation to overcome the threshold of knowledge for an "other" vision.
