Calavera Huichol

The cult of death has been and still is one of the pillars of Mexican culture. This work represents the veneration of death and the spirituality of the Huichol (native group of northern Mexico) Peyote is a gift and an a way to communicate with Gods. Hummingbirds symbolize the freedom of Huichol, never subdued culturally by the Spanish conquistadores. With the snake symbolized the other hand, the sea god. "El ojo de Dios", on the back of the skull represents the four cardinal points, the center is the sun, which represents the God Kayumali.
