I know how to wait

(…)This work could be ironic - a reconstruction of a reassuring masculine dream of concreteness, amongst pizza, pasta and heads of lettuce. It could seem like an aping of Cindy Sherman’s self-portraits which, basing themselves on the images of women in advertisement, made-for-TV movies and men’s magazines, embody the summing up of the female stereotype in the male gaze: weak, fragile, closed within the domestic walls and inevitably viewed from top to bottom.
And yet the artist’s work does not originate from an investigation into the representation of woman or the media image, nor does it wish to construct an ironic replication of such. Rather, it is the direct answer to the requests of unknown men encountered on online meeting sites - a literal interpretation of their desires. The partners, who stepped forward and contacted Veronica, described the traits of their ideal woman and of the erotic setting where they wished to consume her, providing instructions on clothing and behaviour, similar in detail to a cooking recipe (…) text by Valeria Burgio
