The Other Room

Notes on artwork: The paintings I create start with extensive drawings made in the landscape,specifically this year a tiny seaside hamlet called Birling Gap.I re-work these drawings in the studio until the images take on a more symbolic and metaphorical sense. The paintings begin with these images in mind, but I allow the painterly process to change and devolp the painting as I work.The painting thus reach into a new painterly interior space of their own.
