One of the first photos taken two years ago when my project started.
It is part of a portfolio of 21 photographs.
Tale of sacred images hidden in the old shops of Naples, where time seems crystallized and where sometimes a painting of a Madonna (a goddess, a woman) stands proudly on the shelves of cans of tomatoes, between the clamps and tools in a mechanic shop, or between fish in a fish market. The surreal, echoing in the approach of elements so discordant with each other, generates in me a great fascination.
The magic is revealed whenever meeting a religious icon in the "temples" poorest of my city. A picture of San Gennaro, or Mary, a face of Jesus, become unconscious blocks that fit together, from time to time, in the mysterious puzzle of my investigation.
Images celestial guardians of the daily life of my people.
Every day, in unexpected places, from time immemorial.
