INSTALLAZIONE : “ESPERIMENTO DI MANUTENZIONE URBANA”
YEAR: 2014
The proposed installation is site-specific for different outdoor locations around the city of Arezzo (Tuscany). It represents three-dimensional human figures realized taking casts of real people, represented in every day actions. The interpretation of the piece is immediate, but it is also, in a sort of way, alienating due to the finishing material highly unrealistic for the appearance of the human person that we are used to recognize. On this contrast takes place the ambivalent perception of the viewer. Faithful clones, but abstract. The maintenance men look at architecture and places of the city, its history, to preserve its memory and image in time. But their appearance shows that they are not from the past: they belong to the present time. The city of Arezzo has always shown the excellence of Art, exceptional performers and some of their greatest masterpieces. The maintenance men come in direct contact with all that and the city environment. History and Contemporary are not two opposite words, but a vast and rich territory that belongs to the same community. And this installation affirms that.
