Demoiselles de Numero
This piece is included in a body of work inspired by fashion advertisements seen in the metro stations of Paris, France. A constant renewal and destruction of posters found on the street created a visual collage of ambiguous information. Always artificial, temporary ideals of fashion created an abstract form of beauty. The powerful seduction of this imagery, lead to an analysis of the expression and form of the female figure found in the French contemporary fashion magazine, Numéro. A reconstruction of these images displays the inevitable allure of contemporary beauty. This work consists of ink jet prints with many layers of ripped, painted paper which has been collaged together on wooded board.
