The painting shows a man (self-portrait) alone, surrounded by a black background, emerging from a dark slime almost indistinct from the black behind. This re-emerge on the surface, however, is heartbreaking as if the putrid slime is still on the man's skin, which writhes and cries out in an attempt to free himself from it, or from any other force that grips him.

This painting wants to communicate the frustration and pain of a man who tries with all his strength to react to his inner pain, but it his is a lost battle because he is totally alone.

The decision to give no title derived from the fact that you can not give a "label" to the pain, but the only way to define it is to show it in the power of his image and the emotions that it brings to observe it.

The painting is ispired from the vision of the work "1_7_2 Landscape" (2013), by Giacomo Costa.
Looking at that picture, I immediately felt a kind of emotional connection, which I expressed with my painting "Untitled."
While Costa expresses discomfort with the exclusion of man and the predominance of nature, I wanted to express it by placing a man in the center of the composition and the almost total exclusion of the nature, thus emphasizing the loneliness and desolation.

Technically, the body of the figure is defined in its contortion and his "carnal", while the hands and the face are poorly defined and partially incomplete, just to heighten this sense of discomfort and suffering.
