And the Whole World Stops

We live in times when technology and culture interact with each other more than ever. Our contemporary, information-intensive environment shifts our perception of time passing and influences the way we navigate spaces, both physical and virtual. Unnecessary noise often takes away our focus and affects our ability to see. Consequently, it is easy for us to miss out on what is happening all around us, all the time.

And the Whole World Stops is a series of 3 video landscapes: Fog (2m:56s), When the Night Comes (12m:30s) and Into the Evening (7m:13s). It is a visual exploration of our daily environment that we often assume predictable and mundane. The whole series is a glance into the landscapes that we consider familiar only because we cast a membrane of knowingness over them. But what happens when we slow down and take a look around us?

Through visualizing landscapes where awe and time reside together, I provide the viewer with opportunities to slow down and indulge in a brief moment of contemplation and reflection. A moment that we all need to live healthy and balanced lives.
